The organisational bodies
The organisational bodies of Notre Europe – Jacques Delors Institute comprise high-profile European figures from diverse backgrounds. Its Trustees’ Council looks after the promotion of its financial interests. Its Board of Directors is responsible for the management and direction of research work. Its European Steering Committee comes together to debate subjects of fundamental importance to the future of the EU.
Created in 2010 on the initiative of former President of Notre Europe – Jacques Delors Institute Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa, the Trustees’ Council is tasked with ensuring the institute’s continuity. It works for the stability and the development of financial resources necessary for the operations of Notre Europe – Jacques Delors Institute. It is the guardian of the institute’s founding principles and continued fidelity to the mission defined by its founder.
Chaired by Jacques Delors, the Trustees’ Council comprises 5-6 members appointed in May 2010 for a period of 4 years:
Former President of the European Commission and former French Minister of Finance.
The Board of Directors is responsible for the management of Notre Europe – Jacques Delors Institute and the orientation of its research work. It meets at least 3 times per year and is chaired by António Vitorino, who is Notre Europe – Jacques Delors Institute’s legal representative and who authorises its expenditure. It comprises 26 members from numerous countries of the European Union.
The European Steering Committee (ESC) brings together high-profile European figures to discuss subjects of fundamental importance to the future of the EU. It has a role in orienting the work of Notre Europe – Jacques Delors Institute and proposes ways forward for European integration. Chaired by Jacques Delors, the ESC meets once yearly. Its deliberations are the subject of a written summary and the joint declaration it adopts is published in numerous European national daily newspapers.
