Jacques Delors Institute has been working with Demos to better understand the state of citizens' concerns ahead of the 2017 Presidential elections. The Policy Paper, by Yves Bertoncini, our director, "vivre ensemble face aux peurs : le dilemme politique français" is presented during this event and followed with a debate.

Anxious Nation: will the Presidential election be won on fear?
 
The session will be chaired by Angelique Chrisafis (Paris Bureau Chief, the Guardian). Speakers: Sophie Gaston (Head of International Projects, Demos); Jean-Yves Camus (Political Analyst and Associate Research Fellow, IRIS); Dídac Gutiérrez-Peris (Research Director, Institute Viavoice)

The discussions will explore the rise of far-right parties, the upcoming Dutch, French and German elections, and how politicians can defend liberal democracy in the face of authoritarianism. Once the speakers have presented, the audience will be invited to ask questions.
